About Our School

The main objective of our unique educational program is to be flexible in accomodating students that:

With the permission of the principal, students are premitted to register in more than one academic course at a time. Students will be given help to remain on track to complete the course in a timely manner.

Beyond Walls Alternative Outreach School is a non semesterized school. Students can register in an academic course at any time. We are open year round.

Highlights:

  • High School program for students in grades 10-12
  • Students work on courses individually (outside the confines our school) using Distance Education materials with Teacher support on-site
  • Facilities are available to students for support (computers, on-site Teacher, unique classroom environment)
  • Courses meet provincial curriculum requirements and are equivalent to courses offered in Alberta High Schools
  • Students can earn an Alberta High School Diploma here! Writing centre for Diploma Exams in November, January, April, June and August
  • In addition to core courses, a variety of optional courses are available including:
    • Work Experience
    • CALM
    • Forensic Science
    • Physical Education 10

Our students are:

  • working on high school courses to obtain an Alberta High School Diploma or Certificate of Achievement
  • upgrading courses for College or University entrance
  • people needing a flexible attendance schedule due to various personal commitments (ie. work, family, health issues)
  • adult students (age 20 and up) working full and part-time while finishing their studies
  • attending regular school for most courses and Beyond Walls for an additional course
  • committed athletes needing a flexible attendance schedule

You can register at Beyond Walls Outreach School. Call Beyond Walls at (403) 526-4156 to set up an appointment with our Administrator.


When can I register?

Beyond Walls School is open all year round. You can start a course at any time during the year.


When are you open?

We are open all year round.

Our hours from September to June are: Monday/Tuesday/Thursday (8:30-4:30) Wednesday (8:30-8:00) Friday (8:30-1:00)

Our summer hours are: Tuesday and Wednesday (4:00 - 8:00 pm)


How do I know if I can take courses at Beyond Walls School?

Call Beyond Walls. We will get some quick information from you, determine what courses you can take and set up an appointment with you to register. Registration forms (4 required forms) are found on our website under the tab 'Registration'.


Where is Beyond Walls School located?

Beyond Walls School is located at 1008A Allowance Ave. SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta. We belong to Prairie Rose Regional School Division No.8.


Can I take courses with another Prairie Rose School or with another school division while enrolled at Beyond Walls School?

Yes. We will meet with you to determine if you can take a blended program. Call us to discuss your options.


Do I have to come to school daily?

Attendance is flexible, and designed to meet your needs. Our students do not have to attend. Deadlines will be set for assignments and exams. On-site teachers are available to assist our students.


What makes Beyond Walls School different than a regular high school?

Beyond Walls School has an open classroom setting. Students have the flexibility to work on their studies at home. Students can register at any time of the year.


How much does it cost?

If you under the age of 20, the only 'cost' is a $100.00 refundable book deposit and course completion deposit.

Adult students (20 years old or older as of September 1st of the current school year) are welcome. Each course costs $550.00 for adults (includes a $50.00 refundable book deposit).
